1. What is ANTF?
ANTF stands for Anti-Narcotics Task Force. It is a specialized unit of Delhi Police responsible for preventing drug trafficking, drug abuse, and enforcing laws related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
2. What is the ANTF Portal?
The ANTF Portal is an online platform developed to provide information, awareness, coordination, and data related to drug control, enforcement actions, rehabilitation efforts, and reporting mechanisms.
3. What are drugs?
Drugs are substances that, when taken into the body, affect the brain, behaviour, emotions, or physical functions. Some drugs are used for medical purposes, while others are illegal and harmful.
4. What are psychotropic substances?
Psychotropic substances affect the mind, mood, perception, or consciousness. These substances can alter thinking and behaviour and are regulated due to their abuse potential.
5. What are the common types of drugs?
Common types of drugs include: Cannabis (Ganja, Charas, Hashish), Opioids (Heroin, Smack, Morphine), Synthetic drugs (MDMA/Ecstasy, Methamphetamine), Sedatives and prescription drugs (Tramadol, Alprazolam), and Hallucinogens and stimulants (LSD, Cocaine).
6. Why are drugs harmful?
Drug Consumption can lead to addiction, serious health problems, mental illness, family breakdown, loss of employment, crime, and even death. It also negatively impacts society and national security.
7. Is possession of drugs a crime?
Yes. Possession, consumption, sale, transport, and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances are punishable offences under the NDPS Act, 1985 except as permitted for medical or scientific purposes.
8. What is drug trafficking?
Drug trafficking refers to the illegal production, transport, distribution, or sale of drugs. It is a serious organized crime and attracts stringent punishment under NDPS Act, 1985.
9. How does ANTF help in controlling drugs?
ANTF works through intelligence gathering, investigation, raids, arrests, inter-agency coordination, financial tracking, and awareness campaigns to curb drug supply and demand.
10. Can citizens report drug-related information?
Yes. Citizens can provide information about drug abuse or trafficking through designated helplines, police stations, or portals. Informant identity is kept confidential. There is specific helpline namely MANAS-112 / 1933 for anonymous reporting of drugs abuse.
11. Does ANTF also focus on rehabilitation?
Yes. Along with enforcement, ANTF coordinates with other agencies for de-addiction, rehabilitation, counseling, and reintegration of drug-dependent persons.
12. Who can use the ANTF Portal?
The portal may be used by enforcement agencies, prosecutors, policymakers, and the general public (as permitted) for awareness, reporting, and official coordination.
13. What is the objective of the ANTF Portal?
The objective is to strengthen the fight against drugs through transparency, coordination, awareness, data-driven action, and community participation.
